    :cryHi
I'm building a website in Dreamweaver and I'm learning as I go.
As part of my site, I want people to be able to download files from the website, on demand. Can anyone give me a clue as to how I learn how to do this?
I want visitors to be able to click a comand button and the choose a location on their own computer to download the file to. Torrent sites and manufaturing sites do this all the time but I can't find any info on the method of setting this up. If you can help it will be greatly appreciated.

Downloading files from your website only required a hyperlink that is pointed to the filename in the directory in which you store the file.

For example, if I want to give a visitor the ability to download a file named example.xls from my documents subfolder on my web server, I just need to make sure that the document is saved in the mydomain.com/documents folder as example.xls and then create the following hyperlink for the visitor to click on:

    Code:
    <a href="http://www.mydomain.com/documents/example.xls">Click here to download example.xls</a>
The visitor will see a link entitled "Click here to download example.xls" and the browser will do the rest.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
