I have 4mb connection from blueyonder in the uk when i use bittornado to download torrents as soon as i hit the 50kbs+ marks the speed starts to drop and i need to reset my router to be able to do anything on the internet. this problem wasnt happening before as i was able to download at 400kbs for hours no problem.

The pc im on had a B rated wireless card in it and i changed that to a G rated card, for the love of god i cant remember if the problem started when i changed the card but im sure it did. Also it only seems to happen when i use bittornado i can download from majorgeeks and other websites at 400kbs +.

I can seem to pinpoint whats causing this hoping some out there will be able to help me.

Bittorrent is very different from normal downloads. Its very common to get low speeds using bittorrent when you have a high internet speed. Its all about how many seeds and the tracker you are connected to. Assuming you've forwarded the ports you use for bittorrent. I have a 2 meg connection and most of the time, downloading from a normal tracker with say 50-60 seeds, i'll get a download speed of 50-60kb/s tops. If you think about how it works each seed generally has an upload limit of 20kb/s, you would have to connect to 20 seeds who are only seeding to you in order to get 400kb/s, and most of the time the number of peers way out numbers of the number of seeds. I would recommend Bitcomet insted of Bittornado, i've used both and find Bitcomet much better is everyway. Forwarding ports is very important for bittorrent.
There is the possiblilty that your isp is chocking your bittorrent bandwidth, but your speeds sound normal to me. If you try a private tracker (uknova.org is one i use which only provides UK tv programs) where the number of seeds is usually much higher than the number of peers, you will reach top speeds like I do, a constant 220kb/s, other wise you'll have to make do with 50-60kb/s. I'm not saying you'll never get top speeds on bittorrent, just you won't normally.
    Hope that helps

Oh yeah, if your ISP is chokeing your bandwidth, Bitcomet has a feature which is designed to hide the fact your downloading a bittorrent. Its called protocol encryption, select it under preferences>connection.
