downloading quicktime still not working

downloaded new quicktime and still get "Q" with a ? in the middle. Looked at similiar post and tried the remedy that was posted. Didn't work. Could it be
in my internet browser? I am using XP and internet explorer 6.0. I didn't uninstall the old quicktime before installing the new version.

 

I would try an uninstall and delete any references to QT in program files, and documents and settings, user name, application data. Run CCleaner both ways (cleaner and issues), reboot, and then reinstall it. I've always had picture sound quality problems with the program, and its update feature. I use VLC media player, also available as an external application, for .mov, QT files. I downloaded all the mac/pc commercials to an external HDD. Especially like the Vista one. "Cancel or Allow".
