Can I download WIN 10 and save to my desktop to install it later like other software.
I've heard when you download it, it will automatically install in the process. Is that correct?
    Thanks for the help.

No you cannot. If you want Win 10 for free you have to choose 'upgrade now' when you download it. However you can use the media creation tool to create a USB or DVD for installing to another machine or to perform a clean install to your current system, but only AFTER you have first upgraded your present system.

    All is explained HERE

Sneaky. What are they afraid of?
I guess I have a decision to make. Thanks for your help.

You have the option to roll back or you could take an image now and use that to revert, but either way you must roll back within 30 days or your Win 7/8.1 licence expires.

But then I'd have to pay for WIN 10 when I did want to install ir. right?

You have until July 29th 2016 to get it free. So it isn't like you have to decide in the next week or two.
