downloading

hye all . ok i need help with this one , i use bit tornado to download torrents . it's been working great , but for some reason it tells me i need a file extention, to open the torrent. what does the extention thing mean and how do i know which one to use . i uninstalled the bittornado then reinstalled it . but ive still not been able to download films, music, etc . can somebody please help thankyou . would be really greatful thanks again

 

Extensions are the letters after the period(.) in a file name. Most programs that create files put standard/accepted extensions on the end of their filenames so Windows knows what type of info a file contains and thus which program to use to try to open it. Windows by default hides these letters and instead shows you a different icon for each type of file.

A torrent file ends in the .torrent extension. So when you download a torrent file from a site like mininova it looks like episode6.torrent You need to associate .torrent files with a program like bittornado. My guess is that the actual error you are seeing when you try to open a torrent is "there is no program associated with this type of file". If I'm right, then try downloading a torrent file and choose save instead of open with. Then double-click the torrent file and when asked which program to use to open it, choose other and browse to bittornado folder in C:\Programs and select Bittornado program. Check the box that says always use this program to open this type of file.

 

thanks alot for your help . ive not been on my computer till today since i posted this thread . what you have wrote is what i ended finding out through trial and error on friday ,took me a few hrs though . well at least i no ive done the write thing , it tells me what ive done in your answer .thank very much for your help
