This download manager is recommended by cnet and softpedia amongst others, so I don't think it's malware (scanned dl file before opening). Unfortunately it came with a toolbar which I didn't want to install, which rendered the program inoperable so I wanted to uninstall it. However, it resists conventional attempts to remove - its own uninstaller doesn't execute, add/remove programs, deletion in explorer (locked file), and even File Assassin don't work. Searched here but no clues. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you want to make sure it is completely Gone here is a few steps that can help with tool bars i know they can be a pain some times.

Step one Remove tool bar from all the web browser's you use most likely it will be on all of them if it was installed.

    Step 2.
Get your self this program http://majorgeeks.com/Iobit_Uninstaller_d6427.html.
In the uninstaller there should be an option for toolbar click it then high light the one you want to get rid of.Then click uninstall then after that there should be another option pop up When a 2nd page pop's up then let it do it's thing then after it goes to powerful scan click on the button lower right corner. When it is done scanning click on select all then Delete this will make sure there are no registry's left be hind after uninstalling.

    Step 3.
Here is another option to make sure it is gone.
Get this program called Everything http://www.majorgeeks.com/Everything_d7787.html
Then the in search bar type the name of the program you want to find and make sure there are no hiding files left after uninstall.

This is a great practice to use when uninstalling program's.Now if you are in Xp you can just use the Start / Search / For files or folders option all so works.

If Registry's are left be hind they can cause errors and slow down computer more then you think.
