I dunno, does it have accents built in? It might. The old version you used to train to your voice but I guess the new one (9.0) is supposed to work right out of the box. I bet you could modify it a little so that it could understand you, if it didn't just get you outright. I found another review: http://***********.com/reviews/apps/speaking.ars looks good.

Me too! I just ordered a copy. I talked to my friend on the phone who has Dragon and he said that it is much improved, and it does work well, but not to expect it to be magic, you still have to go in now and again and correct things.

    roflmao, that video was hilarious!

btw, I have Dragon and I also bought a copy for my aunt who is wheelchair bound and we both love it. We have the latest version (9) and it has improved a LOT from the earlier versions. I would definitely recommend it!

It is excellent to hear that both you and your aunt use this program. Hopefully, somone here will read this and try it out for themselves. :)

That's very cool. I didn't even think about that, my friend is in a chair and he has a special keyboard, but he's really slow with it, maybe I should see if Dragon would work for him. I did get my copy and am duly impressed, dictating right now in fact. Speaking the punctuation is weird, but I'm getting used to it.

    Hey Diva,

Do you buy the Standard edition or the Preferred? Just curious the difference between the two...

Can you navigate/run Windows XP 100% entirely with Dragon? Or is it primarily a text-to-type 'dictation' type of application. I'm looking for software for an elderly woman with MS. She has virtually no control of her hands and arms. Even clicking a mouse is sketchy at best. If not Dragon, are there any apps that allow full control and use of WinXP via voice commands only??

I know this is kinda off topic, but I posted the same question 1 or 2 weeks ago with no reply.... THANX!

Hey Hopperdave! Well, I ahve been doing a LOT of research on this and one really nice guy told me the following and I am hoping somehow it'll help you answer your question since I am not completely sure myself:

"I paid about 200 bucks. That included the software and a usable microphone. The software installs easily and seems to work well with most all applications -- I mean it doesn't screw other things up. You go through a brief training program: once you've got the software installed and the microphone on you, the program puts up pages of text for you to read. As you read along, a little karaoke like arrow follows along, showing you that it has understood what you've said. After a short time, it's done learning enough about your speech so you are ready now to just speak directly to the computer. From then on, the software learns more and more about your particular speech patterns, continuously improving its accuracy. There is a simple little correction mechanism you can use when the computer hears you wrong. The more you use this mechanism (correctly) the better the software gets at understanding what you are saying.

I have since bought a different microphone, and array microphone, so I only have to be near it -- don't have to put on a microphone. This way, I can roll up to the PC, begin dictating, and then roll away to answer the door, or what ever, without having to remove a headset. Another great option is to use a wireless head set. Also, I have a large trackball type mouse -- easier for me to use than a regular mouse. But Dragon NaturallySpeaking contains commands for moving the mouse around and clicking and so forth. Depending on your level of mobility, you might have to rely on these voice commands for your mouse."
