I have this old Intel create and share webcam ... I think it's an 1.0 ... the software was copyrighted in 2000 ... intel no longer supports it and xp can't run it ... I did some searching and found this download for a driver ... it's suppose to be for my cam, but when I install the software thru a wizard ... nothing happen after I'm done and windows doesn't see the hardware ... can anyone help me with this? ... are there any webcam experts on the forum?

    Hi

That driver looks more like just a video Codec over the full webcam driver, so where did you read that it was for your webcam? just wish to read up on it and maybe see a workaround for you on what was said.

As far as I know even with an update for RTM XP for that webcam from Intel, the driver doesnt support XP SP1-SP3 so with webcams (dependant on spare funds) being not so expensive it would be best to get a XP certified webcam.

Hi Halo ... thanks for responding ... well it's not a matter of life of death getting this to work:-D ... I'd just like to see if I can. I don't really use a webcam so I really don't need to get a new one. Just like doing computer things ... know what I mean?:drool I found out that was for my cam by the description they use in the upper left hand corner of that page.
Doesn't xp have some kind of old program compatibility mode? Do you know how that works?:confused

    Hi, spirittoo. :)

I think I might have that same Intel Webcam at least the Create and Share Deluxe part--not sure of the model as it is in the back of some closet somewhere if I didn't finally throw it out.

Anyway, if I remember correctly it is the one device that I could not move over from Win98 to XP. The driver might work but the software to adjust settings (capture size, frame rate, exposure, shutter button etc.) does not run on XP. I think I tried a couple of times over a period of two years but was unable to get things working. No big deal because I never really used the cam much but it was only about a year old when I made the XP switch and I couldn't believe Intel didn't update the driver and software.

I wouldn't waste much time on it because I really think I searched fairly thoroughly before giving up the last time.

I was just rereading your post and your Intel link went to a codec pack and not a driver. Look at this link and down at the bottom are all the Camera models. Don't use the first 5 "camera packs" but try to match up the name of your camera from the remaining links to try and find the driver.

I recognize my model 430 and see there is an XP driver but I could never get the old Create and Share software to work in XP. I don't think I tried compatibility mode so maybe there is hope for you.
