(drive) is not accessible - "Incorrect function" CDRW,CDR ,DVD,winxpsp2

    jarcher I can't handle a title

    I found this searching the threads for a similer problem

    I cannot burn, nor read a blank disk
    same invalid error

    Drivers are:
    cdrom.sys
    GEARAspiWDM.sys
    imapi.sys
    PxHelp20.sys
    redbook.sys
    storprop.dll




    now. .my question is

    am I supposed to have 30 of these:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    totally identical. .in every way?

    well. .almost 30. .26

    jarcher, I'm having a similar problem, and the same error message.:p

    My thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=92567 but I can read CD and DVD's (and can play CD's and watch DVD's) but not recognise blank DVD's.:confused:

    I ended up uninstalling the the hardware itself
    and searching for hardware changes
    and it reinstalled. .

    I have no idea what happend. . .

    Look for this :
    Restoring Access to CD ROMs

    If you removed CD Burning software, or for some other mystical reason, can not longer access your CD ROM's,
    in most cases following registry keys needs to be deleted:

    Locate and delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
