drive is write protected

    I just bought a WD 360gb external hard drive, I have vista home pre on my pc, every time i try to open or move a file to my external drive i get drive is wrie protected. as far as i know i did not do any thing to cause this can anyone help me remove this:confused:confused:confused

    In Vista, you can bypass drive security by right clicking on the drive in question. Selecting "properties", "security", "edit". Then add your Vista Login name to the list of users and selecting full read/write options. You'll need to be logged in as an administrator

    thanks for your reply however when i right clic on my (F) external drive and then on properties i do not get a security option. i have sharing/drives/hardware/general but no security is there another way?? i do apperaciate all help:confused:confused
