Drive lettering...

Hi all... this is a really tiny problem and I don't really mind if it takes someone 4 weeks to reply, but basically it's annoying me. I installed XP Home on a partition that was about 75% of my total drive space, knowing I'd want to add 2000 later on. A few weeks later I created the partition for 2000 and installed it. Everything works fine. Though what annoys me is that if I boot XP Home, the drive lettering is weird:

A: = floppy
C: = XP partition
D: = DVD-ROM
E: = CD-RW
F: = 2000 partition

I know it seems pathetic, but I want my hard disc partitions grouped! Also, I might learn something new in the process. Thanks in advance

Changing of drive letters can be achieved from the Disk Managment Console.

Right Click My Computer > Manage > Disk Managment

To change HDs letters right click the drive in the top box to change the CDs right click the drive in the bottom box > pick "Change Drive Letters and Paths"

*WARNING*

Changing drive letters to HDs and CDs can and proberbly will also change the paths to shortcuts and save file locations to most programs if not installed on the root C: drive.

changing the CD letterss can hinder some programs when installing extra features ( like WinXP & MS OFFICE ) until you re-locate the CD path.

you cannot change the system drive though, so when you do installs with multiple hard drives and it's a fresh install, unplug all b ut the one you want to install on. if you end up with Win xp on the F: drive then you have to reinstall to fix it.
