    Hey guys,
just a quick one for you.... I have an 80GB HDD on my Laptop and Win XP is already installed... i would like to find a FREEWARE program or learn a method on how to create a Logical Partition to place all my documents into as backup...

Like a second drive where if my OS goes down... its all backed up.

    Can anyone Help?

Not answering your question directly until the end, bear with me...

Keep in mind, this is one of my big pet peeves regarding backups, if your hard drive dies, you lose everything. I strongly suggest a DVD drive that burns and making occasional backups, or a second hard drive. I use both. Back up to a second hard drive AND make DVD or CD backups occasionally. Remember a hard drive has more moving parts then anything else on your computer, the reason they tend to burn out more often then most parts. Recently I lost a drive and lost many irreplaceable photos. I had not taken my own advice, and had not backed up to CD or DVD in a year or two. Luckily I have the photos that WERE backed up, the ones I backed up some time ago to CD and the ones I was able to recover from the dead drive (not much). Still, I lost at least a hundred photos.

That said, if your not swayed, I use Partition Magic, it is hands down the best out there. No demo and about 60 bucks at any store.

And finally, to get to your question after all my preaching, there are a few free partitioning tools available, please keep in mind that while these do work, the free ones are decent tools, but dont beat my suggestions above:

Not to beat a dead horse (or thread as the case may be ;) ) but a USB flash/thumb drive is ideal for back-ups; a 2gb drive can be had for less than $40, they're fast, highly portable, and can be used on just about ANY PC: laptop or desktop. They'll hold data for over 10 years. I got mine about a year ago and I have no idea how I ever lived w/o it!!!!
