    Hey Guys,
Ok, so I got my rig back(in working order). My only problem now is that I can't install my Realtek Audio Driver. What happens is that I run the setup, it lets me run through the installation and when it prompts me to restart I do. But upon restarting I get an error:
Microsoft Bus Driver must be installed before you install Realtek Audio Driver( or something close to that). When I goggled Microsoft Bus Driver Download, I came across a site that will let me download it, but it says: sorry page not found. Now, My question is can anyone point me to where I could find this Bus Driver? I really want my my sound back:cry
    Thanks,
    spock96

I downloaded the 2nd one and it says "Driver not found please reboot and scan again". I didn't think that I was scanning for a driver on my system I thought that I was installing one

    Hello again, Spock96.

To clarify: did you download and install the INF Update Utility posted by Komodo25? If so, did you reboot after the installation?

Also, did you ever update this machine to Service Pack #3?

If all of the above have been accomplished, then I suggest you download and run Driver Sweeper while in Safe Mode, then try to reinstall the audio driver.

I did not restart after I got that eror message and I'm in the proccess of running Windows Updates to get to SP3. After I get SP3 I will try to run that scan again and if it fails I will try ur suggestion.
    Thanks,

@ Caliban(If all of the above have been accomplished, then I suggest you download and run Driver Sweeper while in Safe Mode, then try to reinstall the audio driver.)
Does that mean I enter safe mode and then download and run while in it? Do I try to install the driver in safe mode too?

    Hi, Spock96.

You don't have to download and install Driver Sweeper while in Safe Mode (although I guess you could with Safe Mode w/Networking), but I'd run it while in Safe Mode. That way, it doesn't have to address any files that might be loaded when Windows starts normally.

As far as the driver installation, either Safe or Normal modes should work, although sometimes Windows will bark at you when trying to install drivers/programs while in Safe Mode.

    Apologies for the confusion.

Thank you I'll do that now :)

Just tried that Caliban, but it still says that I need that bus driver, before I can install that sound driver

Strange - I thought we had cleared the chipset driver issue (the SM Bus should be part of the chipset package).

Let's try an older version: try d/ling and installing this Update Utility. Once it runs, reboot and check your Device Manager for any flags. If no controller warnings are present, then try the audio driver install again.

Oops,:-o I ah I deleted the audio section thinking that that was what I was supposed to get rid of.. instead of the Chipset section. I'll delete the Chipset section and install this one and then try the audio driver. Umm would I have screwed anything up by deleting the audio section?

Nothing to worry about. 'Deleting the section' merely means disabling and/or uninstalling the drivers. Once you get this SM Bus thing cleared up, just reinstall the audio drivers.

Ok, Thank you I'll try that now. I hope this works

Caliban, I installed that Chipset driver that was in your 2nd to last post. I then tried to install the audio driver. But just like before it says that "The MS Bus Driver should be installed before you install the realtek audio driver!". Should I run driver sweeper and delete the Chipset driver first then install the one I just downloaded?

    Yes, you can try that.

Question: is this a Gateway desktop? If so, what is the exact model #?

    Spock96 Major Geek 'Spocky'

    Yes, it's a Gateway E-4000

And that's what's strange - I'm not seeing an 'E-4000' at Gateway Support. Maybe I'm missing something...

I went and looked that Gateway Support after my friend said he couldn't get the audio driver to work and I couldn't find it either. He said something about how some models will have the same motherboard.

Weirdness - Gateway has always been vague with their nomenclature. Regardless, if it's an Intel 845G, the Intel .inf should handle it.

Is Device Manager showing any flags at all for the SM Bus? I've just got a feeling that we've got the bus software on board (it should install with the chipset package), but the audio driver is not recognizing it.

By flag you mean a question mark, right?
The only question mark is for the audio driver
