I installed a new hard drive (western digital 1600AAJS to replace a WD1600).
I've loaded the XP home CD. I've also loaded the motherboard CD (ATI catalyst). The motherboard has ECS MCP73T-M3 Rev:1.0 on it.
Under Device Manager, I do not have an ethernet controller SM bus controller, video controller, or PCI device. All of these show a Yellow Question mark next to them.
I cannot connect to the internet to update the drivers from the computer, but used another computer to check for updates. It provided a list of many different motherboards. I selected the closest one and downloaded the drivers to a thumb drive. This did not download any files to the other computer.

Any help in understanding and fixing this issue would be appreciated.

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

All your drivers can be found at this link. The MCP73T-M3 motherboard was sold under a couple of different model numbers, including GF7100PVT-M3. Once the drivers have been downloaded to the PC, burn them to a CD or copy them to a flash drive. Then insert it on the PC without the drivers and copy the drivers from the CD or flash drive to the desktop and run them from there. If you need more help, or have any questions, feel free to post. Good luck! And let us know how it goes!

Thanks!!! That did it! I had found that site, but didn't know which to download. It seems that every decision is not explained and is not retractable, so I erred on the side of safety. I was able to download to the zip drive, and load my computer with the proper drivers, and get my display and Ethernet connection working. Snow always touts this site, and now I know why! Thanks again!!!

:highfive Glad I could point you in the right direction! :-D

For future reference, always install the chipset drivers first, and always restart the PC after installing a driver, even if you're not prompted too. Just be sure that the particular install has completed before you restart the PC. For this particular motherboard, most of the drivers are in one download called the "MCP73 IDE Driver". Normally this is called the chipset driver. Only one other driver is needed besides the chipset driver, and that's the audio driver; for this motherboard it's called "IDT High Definition Audio Driver". Since the chipset driver had the video, ethernet, and other system drivers bundled in to one driver, the only thing left was the audio driver. Most other motherboards don't have the video and ethernet all bundled together in one download, and usually require downloading and installing at least 4 or 5 different drivers. Anyway- glad to hear you got it figured out, and if you didn't notice, some of the drivers are for Vista and don't need to be downloaded.
