Sorry if this is a duplicate, I'm new and want to confirm what I've read in other posts. This error with the blue screen comes up when I run Malwarebytes (although the program runs fine in safe mode.) Should I start with Memtest or update video drivers (Nvidia GE Force 6800 in a Dell Dimension 8400, 1GB RAM)? What other info do you need if I have to reply back to you?

    Thank you very much!

If you could post the exact error message and the error number (they look like STOP:0x0000007F) it would really be helpful.... also, if a file name is listed in the error, please provide that also.

Well, this morning I can't duplicate the problem. Maybe just another phantom bug. I'll keep trying and post all the info I can if it happens again. Thanks for your help.

Okay, now I have some juicy details. Sounds like a Malwarebytes AntiMalware conflict to me but I'm no expert. Every other time I run MWB it completes fine, but then every OTHER other time I get errors. Here they are:

Driver IRQ not less or equal
    Stop: 0x00000d1 (0x00000010, 0x000002, 0x00000000, 0xf734f1a0)
    iastor.sys - address f734f1a0 base at f7340000, datestamp 40e1b22a

    And a new one:

    Kernel stack inpage error
    Stop: 0x00000077 (oxooooooo1, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0xb09a5cbc)

    Thanks again!

OK.... the file iastor.sys is a system driver used by the storage devices (primarily the hard drive). I did a little research on the subject of both your errors, and they point to a possible hard drive issue (as I originally suspected) or a possible file system problem, and less likely would be a memory problem. I would strongly recommend running an in-depth hard drive diagnostic using the software from your hard drive maker's web site. Then run chkdsk to repair any file system problems. Here's how: click Start, click Run, type cmd and press Enter. A black DOS-like window will open. Type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter. You will get a message about forcing a volume dismount or something similar, answer "No". Then you'll get a question about running chkdsk at the next restart, answer "Yes". Type exit and press Enter to close the DOS window and restart the PC. chkdsk will start running, let it do its thing. After all that is done, hopefully your problems will be gone also. You might want to uninstall MalwareBytes before running chkdsk. It probably won't make a difference either way, but it can't hurt to remove it. I searched the MalwareBytes forums briefly and found no other people with your same problem, and only one that was similar. So if you have continued problems, you might want to post in their forums and possibly reference this thread. The MBAM forums can be found at this link.

    Good luck!

(the chkdsk command has a space before and after the "c:" and the command won't work without the spaces)

I'll give it a shot. Dell just lists the hard drive as "Standard hard drive" so I'll try to identify the manufacturer and try Dell's site as well. Thanks for the guidance and I'll let you know how it comes out.

Dell does not make hard drives. Check the Windows Device Manager for the model number of the drive. If it starts with IC or HT, it's a Hitachi drive, if it starts with ST it's Seagate, WD is Western Digital. Or just Google the model number to get the manufacturer...
