Let's take a step backwards. Were you able to connect to your router's IP address?
If I remember right, your PC doesn't need a router driver. At least, I can't find a router driver on my PC. The firmware in the router, runs the router. You are connected to router through your NIC (Network card).
Have you looked in Device Manager and checked your network card driver?

What exactly is the problem you are having?

the problem I'm having is that the signal between my router and cable modem. they are not connecting. when i install router as instructed, my pc is not getting any signal, so i can't log into net. I make copy of manual sent by joelsz but i still can seem to get it working.

Try running a cable (Cat5 with RJ45 ends) directly to your modem from your computer (bypassing the router) and see if you can get an internet connection.
If you do then plug the same cable between your router and your computer and follow the instructions on page 14 of your manual.

Also check what lights (if any) are lighting up on your modem and router and tell us what you see.

I'm able to connect to inter from my modem to pc, problem is when i connect the router i can't get signal. I try to go into the address 192.168.1.1 as instructed on manual but no dice. thats where I'm stuck. Have read on and try some of the things on wireless section, no dice. I got power light on, on router.

Are you saying that the power light is the only one that is on, on the router?
Is your router connected to the modem using the WAN input?

when i connect the modem wire to wan port, thats when i lose the link. i connect my pc to lan1, no link, i have tried connecting to lan1-4 but no dice. I checked my ethernet wires by switching the net wire connected from modem to pc and they both work. I'm thinking my router is no good. Thanks to all for all the Help......

I agree if you are not getting any lights other than the power light on the router and you are connected correctly from the Modem to the WAN port, your router is defective.
    Sorry
    :(
