Is there a program that keeps track of your drivers n updates for you?

I saw a post that Dell updates them rarely n sure enough when i looked they were original 2003, 2004, found newer Dell ones n loaded them.

I know there is a lot of driver downloads n driver software here, know what i want, just not how to find it or if it exists.

And since i have no clue n could mess up if i download the wrong thing ... thought i would ask 1st.

    Thanks,

is great for backing up your current drivers

But, is possibly not exactly what you are looking for
I assume you are looking for something that automatically searches for new drivers relevant to your system ?

    Hi Shane,

Yes, I spent a lot of time at Dell looking at all the drivers, then trying to figure out which ones i needed. So i figured there has to be a program that does this for us driver challenged folks.

I will back up my drivers too, good idea, don't want to have to start all over again.

    Thanks,

    Peg

The scan is free but the downloading of drivers it highlights is not http://driveragent.com/

I find the free scan a good way of seeing what drivers I possibly need then hunt them down manually from the makers of the driver as those are free!

    Thanks Halo,

That will save me some time. Um how often should I update drivers, just when there's a problem or should I go look like every few months - gonna put it on my things to do list.

    Hi Pegg

TBH I dont generally update many drivers, the main ones I look at and do update are Graphic Card, Network and well thats about it, many of the other ones dont really update a great deal to be worth worrying about, depends on the hardware if I have very new hardware then drivers get fine tuned over period of time once newer HW comes out they tend to stop driver support and leave the last stable driver as the final one.

But say every 3months or so is a good time to check whats available, but if your PC is working ok, then thats all that matters ...... Old Geek Master say.. Dont fix whats not broken ;)

But as you have XP, you can if a driver doesnt work right or cause a crash you can use Driver Rollback, which will rstore the last driver.
