Driver problem VIA/SG3 Unicrome IGP

I guess out of stupidity I wanted to update my video driver. I have a low requirement game "Tropix" that my girlfriend likes to play and had experienced some problems with the video.

I went and downloaded the latest driver for my video card and it keeps giving me an error message. Close to the following because it's in Chinese and my girlfriend is translating:

Now the video card runs but won't run games properly. Can someone give me some ideas on how to fix this problem? Thanks

 

I updated the chipset drivers (hyperion) as the via website suggested doing before trying to update other drivers but it still didn't do me any good. My card is back to the way it was before but I would like to figure out some small video glitches I'm experiencing.
