Driver Problem

Okay, here is the thing... I now know my fair share about computers, yet something like trying to install a simple Gravis Gamepad Pro is giving me problems...I Just bought the darn thing, so there aren't any defects....Okay..so I put the controller on the soundcard that I have in shutdown mode....then I restarted, inserted the cd, drivers are installed, restarted again. But yet when I go to the "Game Controllers" category in my control panel and then click :Add" then select "Gravis GamePad Pro [GamePort]" and then press "OK," it says it is not connected...so then i checked my device manager....there is a "HID-compliant game controller" under "Human Interface Devices" on "Gravis GamePad Pro {GamePort}." Then there is a "Gravis GamePad Pro {GamePort}" under "Sound, video and game controllers" on "Standard Game Port." So, what I don't understand now is why there are so many conflictions when the computer says there aren't any....What the heck do I do to install this thing.....Oh yeah, I run WinXP PRO SP1, and the driver that I have from the disc is version 4.5 for XP...so it is the latest out.....If anyone from Major Geeks at all can help me, please do, or if you have had similar problems, reply to this thread....

 

I had this problem before with a Gravis gamepad, but i didn't install any drivers for it funnily enough, i just went to the add a controller in the game controllers section of control panel and selected a gravis. if it's not there then do a custom and set it and it usually works...
