driver problem

my EMPREX IDE DVD CD RW 16x drives plays......cd's and dvd's fine but will only play certai cd roms ive never had this proplem before and ive not changed any setting recently, my drive is also fairly new around 6 months.there is nothing wrong with the cd roms im trying to use ive tried them on other pc's

Os- windows xp (home edition)
compaq presario
Pentium
256mb ram
2.40 ghz

the game thats giving me trouble is football manager o6 which ive had installed and played on my pc without trouble berfore

ive tried.....

restarting computer
virus scans
hardware troubleshooters

any ideas...............?
