driver problems

ok im trying to fix up a friends pc ..........its virus infected and beyond repair
trying to load xp professional and the damn thing wont boot from disc
when i go into bios and test the drives they work fine but when i go into device manager they all have that little yellow exclamation sign that signals they are messed......they wont play nothing or even start up
when i go into my computer it doesnt even show them listed
i try to update em and its a no go........says drivers are corrupt or missing
pc has allready been restored to backup and same problem exists

i cannot find these drivers for the cd-rom drive or the cd/rw/dvd drive
ive also tried to boot new O.S. from usb but bios doesnt have the option of making usb the first boot device

any ideas or drivers would be appreciated..............any driver sites i link to all have apps like driver detective that are paid for
i cannot find just the specific drivers


no discs will play in drives at all (so rescue disc is no good to me right now)
wont boot from drives

when i check drives with bios though........they work fine

when i open my computer all i get is C drive with 75 gig
its a 500 gig hard drive and it dont show anything else
no cd/rom listed
no cdrw/dvd listed
in device manager all drives have the yellow caution symbol
when i update it says good
when i uninstall and reboot and the found hardware wizard comes up it says drivers are missing or corrupt

im freekin stumped


i cleaned it out with malwarebytes
5 times
i need to get the drives up and running so i can load xp pro and reformat
