driver promblem

my friend uses 2000 pro.. and she doesnt have a cd drive on her laptop.. so she uses a external.. and software to run it... i got that part to work.. and the dvd player could play dvds... but she said that see wanted a new windows media player so she could see movies on myspace... so i down loaded Windows media player 9.0.... and now she cant play dvds on the external...... it comes up with an error say that the graphic driver error, doesnt match the direct x that supports it... ( shes has 9.0 direct x)...... can not play dvds now... i got rid of the WMP 9.0 thinking that would solve the promblem... nope.. computer is back to when i turned it on... and now she cant play dvd... help out a solider....thx

she has 9.0c and i download the last graphics driver from dell.com... and she has 2 types of softwares to play dvds.. one say that she need a codec.. and the other says that the direct x is not compatiable with the graphics driver... but i will try that codec package and see if it works...
