New to the forum and want to start off on a good note. Buyers beware of the program Driver Detective. You can download the scanner for free, but it gives false representation to the actual drivers that are outdated. The program does not install updated drivers and when it does, the scanner will identify that updated drivers are still needed for the programs that it supposidly fixed. It is totally manual in operation ( you have to load drivers singularly) and most drivers are in compressed format so you'll need to down load a decompression program. Some drivers are not available or obtainable. Customer support is ABSOLUTELY unsatisfactory with a 100% satisfaction guaranteed that IS NOT supported.

But dont take my word, visit the reviews on PC World. We work hard enough for our money and to be scammed at this level is unprecedented!!

Happy hunting. I chalked my $29.95 as a lost and simply removed the program, so I do not have an axe to grind, just watching out for my fellow computer operators.

Thanks and have a great day :)

I've been trying to warn people about Driver Defective for quite some time. In my opinion, it's always been a huge pile of :crap and if people would take an extra 10 minutes in their search for drivers, the folks at DD would probably go out of business. Most people are intimidated by PCs to start with, and then they're faced with installing these mythical "drivers" and I think they get almost scared into thinking "I need to update my drivers! Oh No! I have an out-of-date driver! My system is in trouble!". Too bad you lost your $29.95. A lesson learned, as they say. Here at Major Geeks, we have an excellent success rate with drivers, and if only more people posted here instead of using garbage like DD.....
Thanks for your time and your post. Hopefully someone else will be spared and will save some money in the process.

    Welcome to Major Geeks.
Thanks for the heads-up, but I always look for my own, rather than rely on what some program says.
Why fix something if it isn't broke?

If there's an 'Uninstall' option with the entry in the Start > All Programs listing, then try to use that. If not, a 3rd party uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller should do the trick. I read that CCleaner's uninstall feature can remove Driver Defective also. CCleaner can be downloaded from this link. Both Revo and CCleaner are 100% freeware, and are powerful additions to my PC toolbox.

I think I have removed driver detective with a combination of Revo and the windows operating system.
I am just waiting for Revo to delete all traces of the recycle bin emptying(on my other computer)and I will go back and see if it is clear. Thanks for the reply.Jerry

I think that Driver Detective has elvolved so that it hides the program somewhere.
Although I could find all the program components with the Windows search facility,it did not show on the add/remove programs list on control panel or on CCCleaners lists of programs in the tools section whereas previously it has done when I removed it some time ago.
Also it has proliferated hugely on the 'Net so that almost any driver search will throw it up,even under specific manufacturers names.Try searching Geforce driver.Jerry
