Driver trouble with cd and dvd drives

For some reason my dvd and cd roms are no longer showing up. In device manager there is an error saying that windows could not load the device driver on both drives. I've uninstalled the devices and the same thing happens when they are reinstalled. I've also opened up the computer and made sure the connections are good. It's very frustrating so I figured I'd see if you guys could help me out. Thanks.
