driver updates, serious problem

ok heres the deal my comp crashed so i nuked it and reinstalled windows, no big deal but now it refuses to let me update the graphics controller driver. its a stock driver on my hp an intel 82810 ive tried running tons of files to get it to update but it says i need service pack 3 files. i tried downloading that but it didnt work either so im pretty much out of ideas it should have updated when i installed windows.... so any suggestions??

reinstalled windows, this should have updated all of my drivers but it didnt i dont have an actual graphics card just the stock intel 82810 controller that came with the comp. basically my screen res sux because the "video driver isnt installed" so i tried several things and when i start the comp it asks if i want to install the graphics driver but then it says it needs files from service pack 3. i tried getting that but it didnt work either the whole thing is confusing the hell out of me because everything on the comp SHOULD be up to date and working correctly. basically my screen res is 640xwhatever and i cant change it....

 

What service pack is on your XP install disc? And what exactly is telling you that "it needs files from service pack 3"? AFAIK, the Intel 810 drivers are built in to SP2, and I have NEVER seen or heard of ANY driver or device asking for SP3 if SP3 hadn't been installed. So, if you installed a clean XP using a SP2 disc, it's basically IMPOSSIBLE for "it" to ask for SP3 files. It simply cannot happen, so something else is going on here. This graphics chipset (the Intel 810/815) is no longer being developed/updated by Intel, and no new drivers have been officially released by Intel since August 2002. You can download this driver directly from Intel using this link.
