driver updates

    morning and happy holidays to all... i just got a nice used computer , it has been reformated an is clean ... i ran a belarc check on it an found a number of updates for my drivers .... do i write over the old ones when i update or uninstall than reload

    Download the updates, un-install the old, install the new, re-start your PC and the update should be working.

    down load them to wear ? i have an external hard drive can i load the updates to there ....than reinstall and thanks musksnipe

    Anywhere is fine. I usually use my desktop for things like that, so that I can just drop them in the recycle bin after installing.
    They will probably be a .exe file, although some will come as .zip files.
    The .exe you just need to double click on to get the install going.
    The .zip's can be a little more complicated. First, unzip them, then look for the set-up.exe file. Sometimes there will be different drivers, in them so you may have to look for your specific driver.

    :confused well i have never have done this before..... and not sure how to do it ..... i think that my 1st choice will be good for me ..... i have 14 to do .... is their an order to do them an as far as a install ....i dont want to grip myself ....... ho ho ho :wave

    I have never heard of a specific order to install them.
    Make sure you have them downloaded, then set a restore point, go to the Device Manager, (Control Panel>System>Hardware) Then right-click on the device that needs the update and un-install it. (This isn't always necessary but it sets you up for a clean install) Install your update by double clicking on your downloaded one if it is a .exe file (See post above for .zip files). Sometimes the PC needs to be shut down and re-started for the update to catch.

    i have done what u said sent everything to xternal hard drive like i wanted to do.... i installed one at a time as not to screw things up everything is working fine so far ..... have only used comp a few times to ck mail ..... haven't done anything major yet ....cpu is low on useage no probs .... it seams alot like christmas do u think.....:wave ho ho ho ..... thanks a million and be a good boy for sanata......
