driver wizard questions

does anybody have any experience with the free download "driver wizard" It looks like a nice simple programm, but I have been burned before using nice simple looking programs.

I personally have never used Driver Wizard, but the home page looks clean (I'm assuming you're referring to http://www.driverwizard.org/ ), which, unfortunately, doesn't mean a whole lot...I think you would be better served to look at some of the freebies offered here at MajorGeeks: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads28.html , because it's a good bet that these have been tested as safe...

That being said, in my opinion it's inefficient to use these types of programs: sure, they may save some time, but if something goes wrong, seems as if you're in worse shape than when you started, because you yourself have not done the grunt work, and will have to work doubly hard to rectify any problems...

IMO...

 

Go to the manufacturer's site to get a the specific driver for the specific hardware. Period..

it seems as tho that site just links to software titles. It doesn't say if any of them are free to use, or if there's a cost, how much is it. The other information looks useful, but I would stay away from downloading any of the software they link to.

 

I would like to thank all of the replys to the thread. I use computers, but dont really understand them. With the help of majorgeeks forum, I am able to enjoy more of my computers capabilities. thank you all. silvertree.
