    Howdy ya'll

I feel pretty stupid here but I am at my wit's end.

I moved from Win XP to Win 7 because i kept getting BSOD'd When i tried to install XP on my new build. The 7 install went on without a hitch, and I was able to lad 90% of the stuff from the XP computer back onto the 7 os.

Things were fine until Automatic updates downloaded windows 7 service pack 1

suddenly 50 drivers stopped working at once. After several reboots, the only things not working are the pci Modem, built into my motherboard, and my printer network.

I had to uninstall my HP and Epson printers twice, from the desktop and From the laptop.

and on the desktop, the printers won't show up as connected to the desktop wirelessly or even if they are connected by the usb ports. (The HP printer only likes certain USB cables, but that is a different issue)

IS anyone else having this problem with win 7 sp1 if so is there a solution?

I have had zero problems with SP1. All drivers are still working correctly.

At this point I am wary of upgrading my laptop, but I kinda have to. HP won't help me at all, Epson is convinced that their drivers from late last year will work. So I am just stuck reinstalling the whole damn network again.

The issues with the printers, were they connected during that time frame? I'd go with, disconnect the printers, uninstall the software, pertaining with the printers. Install the software/drivers, then connect the printers.

and running sp1 for windows 7, with no issues.

    Hi

As it's already pretty much been said, Service Packs don't cause issues, but improper installs of them do!

I always unplug all of my external drives, and any other unnecessary peripherals (save my mouse/keyboard), and close all programs before installing a Service Pack. It's just like any other installation, except it's system-wide. If you go opening Firefox while Adobe Flash Player is installing, it can corrupt the install. Any drivers getting used with peripherals have the strong possibility of being corrupted if they're trying to do things while a Service Pack is installing.

I think i mentioned this before, but, Automatic updates installed SP1 not me. I had nothing to do with it, as it was already installed when I woke up. I have also stated that I have uninstalled and re-installed the printer and modem drivers multiple times with the same results. These issues were not present Before SP1 updated, this is why i believe that I have a problem with SP1. It's okay if you guys have not had problems fine, but don't tell me there are none. XP's SP# was full of nightmares for many people.

If you guys don't' have an idea as to a solution, i can accept that. I am just asking if I am the only one.

Edit: I have found several web articles that confirm that I am not the only one with SP1 Issues, though i have not yet found any solutions.

Same here. I've been looking. I'd reset updates to download but do not install OR tell me about an update. Then you look them over and uncheck/untick items you are not sure of.

Susan Bradley had advised for quite a few months holding off on installing SP1 in Windows 7 because of the problems. One of the people I help has three Windows 7 computers; I've held off telling her to install SP1 on any of them. (Her problems become my headache).

It just seems to get worse. The update killed all the previous system restore points. I tried to install my webcam, and my optical disk drives went missing, just like my scanners did.

ultimately I had to system restore back to the very last saved System restore point. This whole thing is very frustrating. The ONLY good thing about this is that in XP mode, I have access to WMP 10- since i hate WMP 11 and 12
