The drivers for the Canon DR-4580U are installed but the scanner still shows up in the device manager as "other devices". Does anyone know of any way to get the computer to recognize the scanner?

Try turning on the computer then pluging in the scanner, Do you have power to the scanner?

Try installing from the device manager just the drivers.

Agreed,,,you must let windows install IT's drivers for the unit,,,as well as the driver disk from the scanner,,plug and play should prompt after a restart with scanner plugged and powered up,,Also may have to have your OS disk handy if the windows drivers are not preloaded in your PC ,, Glenn

Have to plug in scanner to power and PC ,,then restat PC to activate the plug and play,,,

It is a windows 98 and a SCSI connection.....I have tried the drivers from device manager and it doesn't find them on the scanner disk since the disk installs through an exe file.
