I'm trying to find drivers for a Toshiba Tecra S1. I went to the Toshiba site and provided the Part number and Serial number and said the combinatino didn't return to any computer. I did download search for the make a model. The site has all the Tecra listed except the S1.

This all started when the hard drive apparantly crashed. The bizzareness of this whole thing baffles me.

The hard drive crashed. I checked the system as it boots up and it doesn't recognize any hard drive. I put a windows XP startup CD into the drive and run the recovery. It asks for the administrators password and not having one, I tried three and was forced to boot up. Low and behold it boots into the hard drive.

I figure before I do too much, I'll connect to my network and back up some files. the wifi sees my network but will not connect or even ask for my password. After several attempts, I try to get it to connect by cabling it to the internet through my router then direct. I use a broadband cable IP. I can't get the network adapters to install. I tried to use the network connection wizzard and No Joy.

I looked at the device manager and see that the Ethernet Controller, PCI Flash Memory, PCI Modem, and video Controller (VGA Compatible) are enabled but the drivers are not installed.

I try to load the drivers through the wizard and it says it can't find it. I looked on the Windows CD and no joy.

    Any suggestions????

Close but not quite. I'm able to get the ethernet controller loaded but not the others, yet. Still working through this. However, I'm not able to get the WIFI to pickup the router even when it's right next to it. It's as though the wifi isn't on, but it is. I've seen the connections before but was unable to actually connect. Now I can't see them. Is one of the remaining drivers a contibutor that I should work on first?

Ok, I've got egg on my face. I accidently hit the wifi radio button and didn't realize it. When I updated the driver it actually said the radio was hardware switched off. Once I found the hidden button. It took off.

Just out of curiousity, how did you find the S1 site?

    Thanks once again.
