Drivers in, Devices not working

    Hey guys, I am facing this problem with an old Toshiba A80 Satellite laptop now. The problem lies with the sound card and the wireless card. The drivers are in, the speaker icon appears at the taskbar, same for the wireless icon.

    But the sound doesn't work, and the wireless couldn't detect any nearby networks.

    I have got a Belarc log done, do I need to post it?

    The audio uses a Realtek AC97. I've downloaded the latest driver from Realtek website but no joy.

    Any help is appreciated! =D

    Have you downloaded all the drivers for the A80 Satellite from the Toshiba site?

    For the sound drivers, there is only one. Which came in 3 parts. Downloaded that. Downloaded the wireless driver too.

    This is so embarrassing...the Wireless and Sound switch were turned off. I didn't notice the switches as they were at the bottom. ^^"

    Sorry for the trouble...

    I'd imagine we've all done similar before and good to see you 'own up' to it.. some people on some forums would BS their way out of that one rather than admit to it!

    Gale,

    You're not alone in not spotting the stupidly positioned switches on those Toshes, I remember wasting a couple of hours on one before i read the manual ^^

    Thanks for posting back. We've all done something similar.
    We also learned where the switches are located so if someone else with a Toshiba has the same problem, we will know to tell them where to locate the sound and wireless switches.
