Hi, i recently reformatted my friends pc, and completely wiped everything. We now need to get the internet drivers for the AMD Athlon XP 2000+. Once we have internet everything else is easy. Please help me. The pc is running xp professional. We will need to get the drivers to the formatted pc via a usb/cd as we can't access the internet. THX.:)

Do note for future reference, reformatting is ALWAYS the LAST ditch effort to fix a PC. It is rarely ever needed to begin with, but there are two primary reasons it should not be done, the first you just discovered - "current" drivers for all the hardware. The second is more serious and that is the computer ends up months, if not years behind in security updates, and as noted, with everything wiped clean, so goes the computer's anti-malware defense.

Well an AMD Athlon XP 2000 is a CPU, it does care about, or use Internet drivers.
    Well,
Understand that LAN card = Ethernet card = Network Interface Card(NIC). Also understand you may not have one, but use an "on-board" network interface.

Does this computer use an add-in Ethernet card, or on board? Unless very old, most motherboards come with an Ethernet port on board. The easy way to tell is to look. If you plug the Ethernet cable into a RJ-45 port located in the computer's rear panel I/O area - that same area on the back of the case for the keyboard and mouse, then it is on-board and you need to use the drivers from the motherboard maker's site.

If this is an add-in card, it will be installed in a PCI slot, in the expansion slot area of the back of the computer. If a card, you will need to pull the card to determine the maker.

BUT, XP is generally pretty good at identifying generic drivers for common devices like NICs. So two things come to mind - (1) your current driver is corrupt and you should uninstall it and reboot and see if XP sees new hardware, or (2) this is on board, but not enabled in the BIOS Setup Menu.
