Drivers updates

I occassionally find that the pc has shut its-self down and when i restart i get the message... this computer has recovered from a serious error. and the advised that it was caused by a device driver, but it cannot detect which one. It suggest i use windows updates to search for updates etc and i do this manually and can see nothing there relating to drivers.
Is there a utility about which will test the pc's drivers, and then tell u which ones need updating?
I know there is no virus probs etc, and have run various diagnostics... the problem seems intermittant so can only assume that it is a set of operations performed in unison which causes this, and that set doesnt happen regularly.
Its not a major problem, far from it, but it is an irritation, and wondered if any of u guys knew a way around it.

Check out www.versiontracker.com and type "diagnostics" in the search box which brings up a couple of programs you can choose from (some of which are freeware).

yup... had a lok at the geek-a-licious stuff here.. but nothing looked ideal for what i wanted....was all to specific lol. Typical chap me.. far too ambiguous for my own good.. n the pc takes after me lol Will however check out your links!

If you can't get any closer to working out what the problem relates to, err, hmmm, well ya pretty much going to suffer for a while unless you can get your hands on Symantec's Norton Utilities or similar which searches for all errors including any in the registry etc. There may be a few free apps out there, but i'm a bit shaky on the names...
