drivers

    hi, I have realtek ac97. i have xp. toshiba Satellite M55-S139. it says my drivers are bad and some are not even listed. I have tried everything, searched several places. I can't afford to pay for the drivers. can you help me with this problem please? Thank you and if you need more info please let me know...

    Hi

    What Service Pack is your XP at? (RTM, SP1, SP1a, SP2 or SP3)

    What drivers are bad? do explain more as in in Device Manager what items have a yellow ! mark by them?

    Likely you need to start with the drivers HERE, then tell us whats missing in Device Manager and what Service Pack you have for XP as this has a direct relationship with the Audio driver fix?

    I just Googled realtek ac97 you drivers seem to be very easy to get, down load them to a folder then got into device manager. You should be able go through the update driver routine.

    Sadly Phil its not always that easy, not every Realtek ac97 audio driver may work with a particular audio chip as many OEMs like Toshiba do spec out custom chips from the likes of Realtek, which is why gaining the driver from the maker of the Laptop (see link I posted to Toshiba) is the best option.

    Then the reason I asked for an Service Pack level is that if the user does not have SP3 for XP then they will also need the UAA HD Audio driver from Microsoft installed before installing the Audio driver.
