drives not working

    for some reason..my cdrom and dvd rom drives arent working..it started off as 1 not working..then the other...and now both of them dont work

    anyone think they can help me out?

    Hi

    Which Windows version you using?

    Do you get any error messages when you try to open a CD/DVD with those drives?

    Have you installed any new software just before this happened?

    Has the PC been moved or knocked?

    If you enter the BIOS are the drives recognised?

    In Device Manager are there any yellow ! marks, if so by what?

    If your using XP then in Disk Management ( to get to Disk Management Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc and hit enter or ok ) are the drives seen?


    The more info you can give, helps us narrow the problem down, I suspect its a case of some burning software or virtual drive, messing up the upper and lower filters, but thats a guess for now.
