Every time I reboot my laptop, two or sometimes three windows pop open. If I close one, they all close. They do not seem to affect operation but they are annoying. The windows reference "DrvmCBD", "DrvmCBD Pending IO", and "Diagnostic Traces", the top line of "Diagnostic Traces" refers to "SSDiag Activated".

I am using a Dell XPS M140 laptop, using Windows XP, connected via cable modem through Charter.

Please help me correct this problem.
    Thanks,
    Timoteo

A quick Google search tells me that your problem is related to Sonic DVD/CD burning software. If you have it installed, or recently uninstalled it, that could be the problem. If you have any Roxio software installed, sometimes Sonic will confilct with it and cause errors. I would recommend removing both Sonic and Roxio products as they're basically unneeded for everyday use. If you use them for burning, we can recommend free utilites that will do as good as a job or better than either Sonic or Roxio.... in the meantime, here's a link you can look at: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/609884-repeated-blue-screens-drvmcdb-sys.html
    and this: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=521101
    and maybe this: http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/DLA/000007DL?set-locale=en
Look in the msconfig startup list ofr SSDIAG.EXE and uncheck it if listed.... Try the things in the links and if they work, please let us know, in the meantime, I'll do more research.

I removed all the Roxio and Sonic software I could find. This included:Sonic Audio, Sonic DLA, Sonic Encoders, Sonic MyDVD LE, Sonic RecordNow Copy, Sonic RecordNow Data, and Sonic Update Manager.

I also cut two files from C:Windows (SSDIAG.EXE and SSDIAG.INI) and put them on my desktop.

I no longer get the windows during a reboot. Can I delete SSDIAG.EXE and SSDIAG.INI?

Sorry I took so long to get back to you.... many folks here at MajorGeeks like CDBurnerXP. Don't let the name fool you, it will run under any version of Windows, not only XP. I also like BurnAware and Final Burner. It really depends on exactly what you're burning or what type of project you're putting to CD/DVD. These programs will handle all your data burning needs without any trouble. For music, they're all good also, and you can use Windows Media Player also (it's built into Windows XP). For DVD movies for playback in your home player, use either BurnAware or FinalBurner. Video files must be in standard DVD compliant format (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS with all the appropriate .vob, .bup, and .ifo files). Here's some links:
    BurnAware http://www.majorgeeks.com/BurnAware_Free_Edition_d5839.html
    CDBurnerXP http://www.majorgeeks.com/CDBurnerXP_d4242.html
    FinalBurner http://www.majorgeeks.com/FinalBurner_d5319.html
These are all freeware. If you want a full burning suite, Nero has been around forever, and is probably the standard by which others are judged when it comes to paid software. You can download trial versions from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Nero_8_Ultra_Edition_d2228.html for Nero 8 Ultra; or from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Nero_Burning_Rom_d633.html for Nero Burning ROM 6.6
