Not much to go on here, apart from not drying what other symptoms are there?

    1. Lint in the filter or outlet hose.
    2. Blocked filter or outlet hose.
    3. Heat not operating to evaporate water on damp clothes.
    4. Dryer not rotating clothes?
    5. Clothes too damp?
    6. No power to the dryer?
    7. Clothes not put into dryer?!

Welcome to the Forum:) I'm gonna assume it spins but doesnt get hot 90% chance its the thermostat,if not the element, the thermostat's 'there usually two for safety' should located just above the element at the hottest part of the dryer, when they're dead the bimetallic dimple stays in,I'll try and show you a dead one if I can find a charger for my camera,to test them remove from the dryer and hook it up to a testmeter, heat it with a lighter they usually set for around 100-150c once reached the dimple will pop and break the circuit or pop and make a circuit

I'v changed a load of em over its only a 20 min job, call out an repair guy and it'll cost you around £60,the thermostats cost me £12.50 for the kit they can be ordered online

Post your location and the make of the tumble dryer someone might have experience with it :)

Welcome to Major Geeks bilhawk Assuming your dryer is 220 Volts, the most common thing I ran into as a Service Tech believe it or not was one of the 220 lines going to the heaters burn off at the terminal connector, this is easily spotted, and usually there is enough wire to cut off the offending bit, restrip the wire, solder it(requires heavy duty soldering gun then reinsert. The lead solder provides a better connection than just plain wire as it usually is just a screw connection.

I would automatically assume lint buildup in the hose first. Even if you clean out the lint filter in the actual dryer religiously, it will build up in the hose.

Get a high-powered shop-vac and hook it up, see what happens. If that doesn't work, pull the hose off and see what might be in there.

Or...get a new dryer. That's what I ended up doing this year.

I must be living in the dark ages, I use a clothes line. :)

I even wash my own dishes by hand.

Me, too...except in winter when the clothes would freeze solid, and have to be brought in to thaw...after which they would still be wet. ;)

    (I hand-wash dishes as well.)

If the dryer spins and gets hot, and still does not dry clothes, it is probably a blower issue. Turn the dryer on and check if hot air is blowing out the vent. If hot air is indeed blowing out the vent, then you perhaps need to adjust your expectations of the machine...'cause it's working!:)

Guess I’m living in the dark age’s, ten years ago, I had a gas dryer, and no body here at MG, said anything about one of those………now to your problem….”if it spins and gets hot, check the big vent hose, take it off and check for a large buildup of lint, and check where it exits thru the wall, and while you have the hose off, take off the hose at the dryer too and look for a buildup of lint, then check the hose……..wobbles

Depending on the age of the dryer, newer models can have "moisture" sensors. If you put it on "automatic" as opposed to "timed" the sensor controls the length of time the dryer actually runs. Possible cause if sensor has gone bad.

Guess he got it fixed so won't say anything, bt does lookd like lint was the culprit. If people would keep the lint filter clean and make sure nothing is blocking the flow of lint in the exhaust their dryer would last many times as long as some do.
