This might sound a bit off the wall but I have reasons for the question. I have DSL service and most of my phone lines have the filters installed. There are three televisions that are connected to phone lines and Satelite tv reception that are in entertainment centers. My problem is, I cannot get to the wall jack to install the filters without moving the entire entertainment center. So, can I install the filter in reverse? I have accesss to the phone line at the Satelite receivers so I need to know if I can plug the phone line from the wall into the male end of the DSL filter and then plug the filter into the satalite receiver? This is the opposite of the directions. Any help?
ISP was "not sure". Are they ever sure?

What needs to be done in your case is a dsl filter needs to be installed at the d-mark on the outside of the house. They make filters that mount outside next to the d-mark. All your phone jacks run through the filter and the jack used for the dsl modem is not filtered but some external filters have a place for the modem jack too!
This setup may be tricky if your wires are all spliced together inside the house (basement or crawl and even some attics). In these case's you have to trace out your wires to make sure that you have a pair that run from your dsl jack all the way to the d-mark! Some times jacks are wired in series, one wire going in to a jack and then another wire from that jack to the next one and so on. I wire all new installs as a home run to a central location in the house (patch panel) or all the way to the dmark. If this is how yours is done, it would be easy to install 1 filter at that location.
Just another way to do it! Hope it helps!

This would work since all my lines were installed with the "home run" method. But what if I wanted to set up the dsl modem in another location? That's why I would like to use a few more filters, but I cannot get to the jacks. So can I install the filters in reverse--phone line to female end of filter, then filter line to phone?

I'm not sure, I always hook them up correctly so I can't tell you for sure, all you can do is just try it and see!
