I have a lite version of w2k installed on my pc, and can't seem to get the DSL to work correctly.

    It's an eMachine w3107.

    512 ram, sempron 3100 @ 1.8ghz.

    built in ethernet...

but no matter what I do, I can't seem to get it to connect through dsl.

(on another comp by the way..)

    can anyone help me out?

EDIT: also...I really need to get on this internet with this comp because my sound devices and other things aren't working properly (no drivers installed I reckon..)...soo...yup yup

    ???

    is that windows 200?

More info please about your software and also the hardware side of your proposed DSL connection.

Windows 2000 should have no trouble running DSL connections

yes, it is w2k. but apparently it's a stripped down, basic version from what I understand.

so, from knowing this I'm guess that what's needed for dsl, isn't installed..and I have no idea how to get it installed.

well, it's just a basic w3107...it's nothing special hardware wise...no upgrades..nothing like that..the dsl, I was trying it connected directly to the modem, and then I tried it connecting through my Linksys router...tried using the router cd...nothing working so far.

If anybody is going to be able to help you you will have to provide proper information.

How are you connecting to the router (USB or LAN)?

What do you mean connecting directly to the modem?

You may well not need the router CD unless it is a very old USB model.

    Who is your DSL provider?

Does the connection work with other computers?

Just describe it all, we can ignore anything irrelevant.

You have a lot more luck getting information when you are more direct with your questions...

ok I've figured out the problem..it doesn't have drivers installed to make it work.

I've got the sound working now, because I downloaded the realtek drivers and put them on a cd, then transfered them to the other comp.

what drivers would I get for the built-in ethernet port..and how would I go about finding them?
