    Hi;

    A bit of an odd problem.

    Can anyone help me setup a Linksys WRT54GS-UK Router Flashed with DD-WRT to work as a a DSL Modem / Router on a Deutches Telkom Line for DSL.

    I currently have a Speedport W 723V Type B which has to be sent back to D Telkom or I face a Euro 200 bill.

    I live in Germany (for the next 2 weeks) and my Deutches Telkom Account was supposed to be terminated yesterday. Like all things D Telkom it has been delayed, despite having received a letter stating that it would be cut off 11 Nov 13. After a couple of phone calls it looks like it may not get disconnected until 31 Dec 13 by which time I would have left however they have stated that they want the Speedport Modem / Router back now????

    To take advantage of the delay and avoid a bill for the router I want to use an old Lynksys 54GS the problem is I have not got a clue what settings I need to input??

    Any help would be great.

    Many thanks

    I'm pretty sure you can't use a router in place of a modem.
    You need a modem.
    The WRT54GS can be used as a repeater, wireless bridge, access point or a switch but not a modem.

    No "pretty sure" about it. A modem is by definition is a "MOulator DEModulator" and is a separate network device. No amount of flashing can reprogram a router to perform as a modem.
