What version does you Spybot say it is and what detections date do you have?

Also are you up to date with Windows updates?

and sorry to keep posting before you get back to me - but im also running Mozilla Firefox 1.0 and i noticed DSO Exploit is a hole within IE that should be fixed if your computer is up to date which mine is . . . i never use IE so could this be an issuse with Firefox that spybot catching? or is DSo by definition an issue with IE? just thinking aloud thanks

Before doing the Spybot update, did you have SpyBot-Search & Destroy 1.3 Final installed.

If not sure, it may be worthwhile to uninstall Spybot completely. Then reboot. Then reinstall the 1.3 Final version, get all updates, and then reinstall the Spybot - Search and Destroy DSO Exploit Fix

I have not seen any cases yet (yours is the first) where after installing the DSO Exploit Fix that Spybot continues to falsely detect the problem. Note if you have SP2, you do not have a DSO Exploit problem.

yeah since my computer is like a weeek or two old the spybot version 1.3 is the only version ever on this computer and yes it was version 3.1 at the time of plug in installation . . . hmmm but if sp2 makes dso null and void even if deected then am i in the clear anyway?

Yes you should be. But I still wonder why Spybot keeps finding it. Spybot 1.3 is not the same as 1.3 Final. Did you have 1.3 FInal? It can't hurt to try what I said.

    chaslang,

I was wandering through and saw this suggestion. Worked like a charm to prevent DSO from being reported on every Spybot S&D scan. Thanks. :)

You're welcome! I had a feeling that you should not be getting the DSO Exploit messages anymore. MRU stand for most recently used. They are not normally a problem. Some people don't like them because they reveal a history (sort of a log) of where you have been surfing and what you have been running.

I am also having a problem with DSO Exploit showing up every time I run Spybot. I have tried everything here, but the problem persists.

I am also running Ad-Aware, and both applications find and destroy the same things every time I run them. In the meantime, I am bombarded by pop-ups and virus alerts.

I am running XP home, IE, all with the latest updates.

    Help!!!

Well, son of a gun, I thought I had run it, but you must be right because now it's not showing up -- after 20+ times running Spybot.

Spybot now shows that I'm clean, but Ad-aware is still finding the same crap, and the pop-up, home page and virus problems persist.

Where do I go now (hat-in-hand)?

Start your own thread and clearly state all of your problems! Also indicate whether you have run ALL the steps from READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal or you will be told to run them (thus wasting time).

I've had the same DSO Exploit problem come up for me for months.

I've used the suggested patch and everthing is coming up clean.

Thanks so much for the suggested fix Chaslang.

    This site rocks! :)
