    What is the minimum number of programs/files, I need to install on a W98SE partition to fool XP into thinking I have a dual boot system. It does not appear that I can update my Gateway Solo 9300 BIOS to accept XP, so I am forced to use the dual boot method.

    I assume that;
    (1) Create a W98SE partition (obviously).
    (2) Sys C:
    (3) Copy boot.ini, ntdetect.com, ntldr and bootsect.dos to c:\

    Is that all? Do I need to fully install W98SE from my W98SE CD? Hope not. Bazza

    Just the system files on the 98 partition should do the trick. 98 is DOS based anyway, so that should do the trick.

    Thanks, S_P_D. I had hoped that would be the case. Saves a lot of room and effort. Next step is to back up XP and start all over again, and install "W98SE" and XP on my 30gig laptop drive. That's another subject, probably, for later. Bazza
