dual boot xp pro and Kubuntu modem driver for Kppp

    :cool,

    Noahawk......

    I am a new user to linux(kubuntu) that is dual boot to win xp pro sp3, my problem is a cant connect to the net as thru error kpp window says can not find /dev/modem, but
    under lscpi is shows lucent win modem but no driver, so my question is what you mean by creating a fat32 folder and load a driver thru that, or via cd ,DVD/usb stick?????????
    but I have no driver?????????

    PS I have installed Kubuntu dual booted to my win xp pro sp3 that I had
    previously dual booted with win Me , therefore I have the driver in my xp pro

    This explains ndiswrapper

    You have to put the windows drivers for your lucent modem on a USB drive, then fire up kubuntu and use those drivers.

    Note: I could never get ndiswrapper to work properly so I can't tell you the correct procedure.
    You may want to head to the kubuntu forum and ask somewhere if there is a step by step to use ndiswrapper to get your winmodem working.

    Sorry, my bad. :eek: ndiswrapper isn't for dialup.

    Scan your computer for the modem
    http://132.68.73.235/linmodems/index.html#scanModem
    then download the proper modem driver for linux.

    Also, lots of info and links here http://www.linmodems.org/
    Good luck because it can be a real chore trying to get a winmodem to work in linux.

    I took the easy path and hooked up an external USRobotics modem.
