I'm just curious, but if I purchase a 1 GB Dual Memory Kit ( 2 X 512 mb ) is there a difference between that and just two different sticks? Are these designed to work together? Their timings or something? I ask because my Mobo doesn't support dual channel, and it is cheaper to purchase the kit than a 1 GB stick. Would I be better off with just a 1 GB stick? I have 4 RAM slots and I was wondering if Two more sticks of 512 would be very different than just one stick of 1 GB.

A dual channel kit would work fine, but if price is an issue I'd go with a basic 'set' of two 512 sticks which would be cheaper than a guaranteed dual channel kit :)

id go with the pair. All that dual channel kits are is a matched pair of mem sticks to ensure compatibility in dual channel mode. THey dont cost much and they are the same speed so you wont have to worry about different timings, speeds etc.
