I know that the dual channel RAM is better..What are the steps to convert over. My MOBO says that it supports dual channel. Is 3200 dual channel 1 gig (two 512's) good enough? Also what steps to I do after I install them??Do I change something in the Bios or windows in-order to get the best performance from them or just to turn the dual channel on? Also what brands should I stay away from. I'm running a P4 2.8 HT, 1 mb cache with 512 mb 2100 ram, also a FX 5700 (not LE) video.

Thank - you for your help.

You dont need to turn on anything, you only need to install your Ram chips in the correct Ram slots, one in each channel.
Your MOBO manual will provide info on the correct slots.

Any major brand should be fine, not all rams chips support the fastest timings, which wont make much differance for general use.
You can buy dual channel kits, which are two ram chips of identical spec's and usually tested as such, many times cheaper ta buy dual kits.

You normally don't have to enable anything in the BIOS to run dual channel - it's normally detected and enabled in the BIOS by default. Just make sure you get the RAM into the correct slots (usually color coded) on the motherboard to go dual channel. 2 X 512 is generally plenty of RAM. You can check to see if dual channel is enabled and working properly when you get it installed by downloading cpu-z and looking at the channels # in the memory tab.
