    Good day!

This may be mental, but i would like to find a way of re-enabling the sound (speaker/headphone) output on my motherboard (see below) to send the same thing as that which comes out of my sound card.
I have a soundblaster XiFi sound card (very nice) but it only accommodates my computer speakers, however i would like to re-enable the output of the motherboard so that i can connect my big stereo too.
this isn't a major problem, just something to separate the boys from the geeks :p

I couldn't find the motherboard name, but i found this out:
    manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer INC
    Product: P5B-TMX-GB-SI
    Version: Rev 1.xx
    Serial number: MB-1234567890
    (from program:http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html)

    Thanks allot for your help!

    Richard

You can't use both onboard sound and a sound card. It is one or the other.

You dont mention what kind of output your sound card has, but is it just a simple 2.5mm stereo jack?

If so, for about $5 you can get a splitter that would allow you to plug both your stereo and your speakers into the same jack. You need a splitter that goes from a single 2.5 into two 2.5mm jacks. Plug your computer speakers into one. Then get an adatper that goes from 1/8 stereo to RCA Red and White, and plug that one into your receiver.

    Voila, problem solved....

thanks allot for your help, i knew about splitters etc, and was considering a bit of home wiring because of having to convert one side from the mini jack (3.5mm) to phono putput. however i was looking to see if there was a way of editing the bios or something to re-enable the second mini jack output, to save me having to get a (overpriced) splitter.
(if it has not already been guessed i am a student and thus want to do things for as cheap as humanly possible!)

    thanks anyway!

i hope you had a good bank holiday :D

I understand being on a budget. The splitter seriously should not be more than $5 bucks. Im sure you can pull that from your beer budget :)

    Good luck.
