So I was replacing the motherboard on a Toshiba Satellite P200 - RT9 when I found something I've never seen before. The original mobo had 2 installed and different Wi-Fi cards. They were both mini PCIe, the first being an Intel 4965AGN, and the second a Broadcom T60H999.00 LF. The Intel has connections for the Wi-Fi antennae, while the Broadcom did not. The new motherboard I installed was identical except it didn't have the second PCIe slot for where the Broadcom card was (so I just didn't reinstall it). Can anybody shed some light on why it would have two cards? Thanks.

Maybe... but everything I've found when I check out the part # says it's Wi-Fi....

I just tried removing the known Wi-Fi card and installing this mystery card into the mini-PCIe slot, and it came up as 'Multimedia Controller' (But windows couldn't find drivers for it). The hardware id is:

    pci\ven_14E4&dev_1610&subsys_261014e4&rev_00

Found a bunch of random stuff on the net about it, but nothing that identifies it for sure....

Could it be a Bluetooth card?

So a video accelerator... That makes a little more sense. I know it's definitely not Wi-Fi. The weirdest part is that everywhere I look everyone says it a LAN card though...

I'm almost positive they're all mistaken, but it seems weird that so many places would have the same idea...

I'd tend to believe the pci database which has the vender and device id that you posted in #4.
I go to that site to look up hardware that I can't figure out, especially USB sticks!

I wouldn't go by that alone. That just means the card has that chip on it.

Did the actual device have the model number from the first post listed on it?

Yeah T60H999.00 LF is right on the card.

Then its a network card of sorts. I'm thinking its probably a combo device, probably BT. It could be an encoder as well if you have something like blu ray or hd-rom on the device because your GPU isn't strong enough to run either.

Because its a combo card, not all features may be used, hence no antennas.

Yeah it has HD-ROM.... So that's a definite possibility. I've never come across a component that's this difficult to identify, having the part # and all. Anyway, thanks for all the help guys.

You nailed it then, its a media encoder for the hd-rom. As mentioned, its probably a combo device.
