Dual Opteron 265 on a MSI board

new 'puter finally arrived ..

Cooler Master - Wave Master Black
MSI K8N Master2-Far Board
2x Opteron 265's
4GB PC3200 DDR RAM
OCZ Technology Powersupply ATX/EPS 700W
XFX 7300GS 256MB

got dynamic overclocking on the BIOS .. set to 5% for the mo .. i'll be doing a lot of after effects work in the next while so any tips re making her hum would be most appreciated ..

I know msi active cooling is very loud. you can buy a zalman 80mm fan with a silencer, or zalman fanmate 2, to reduce the noise.

as regards the fans .. yes the cpu fans are quite loud .. even at low speeds .. tho i still have the AMD supplied ones (which look chunkier) and have been debating swaping them in .. how do they rate sound wise?

 

I meaned the tiny golden chipset fan that's loud. I don't know what cpu cooler yours is. The stock amd cooler noise is acceptable. You can set the cpu fan speed in bios. See your manual for how.

As for noise rating, it's dBA. Take this for example:

20ish dBA is barely audible. Just set it in bios to half your cooler's max speed. I'd also disable cool-n-quiet.
