dumb question

i know this is a dumb question,but how do people type using all those weird symbols?i see it all the time on the internet and havent a clue as to what their saying.can someone tell me how to do it,i feel left out!thanks

The characters are meant to represent the LOOK of letters.. i.e.

h3ll0 =hello

34t |\/|3=eat me

\/\/3l_(0|\/|3 2 |\/|4j0R G33|<5 =welcome to major geeks..

it's really a waste of time and I wouldn't worry about it. it's more like a gag when use it.

 

Well...I can suggest two things....Look for a site that has a list of other weird symbols you may mean like ¿?® ect....I think I have a link....yeah here we go but I must warn you, anytime I load the page I get lots of lag.... anyway here...:
