During game monitor loses signal computer remains running

Hey guys,

I have recently started playing League of Legends. The first while i was playing it with utorrent running, then i added Skype, then iTunes, then a program called LoL replay (just a program that captures the replays of the games i have played). Everything was running fine until i started running iTunes, my monitor will lose signal then approx 2-10 seconds later the music would shut off yet my computer would still run and require a reboot. When i reboot everything would start up normally except sometimes the main hard drive out of the 3 i have would make ticking sounds, obviously its on its way out. But could that be the culprit of the monitor crashing? Could it be the PSU or the Video Card or a bad RAM stick?

Intel core 2 duo cpu E7500 @ 2.93 GHZ
4 GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit
Enermax 620W PSU
ATI Radeon HD 4800

 

UPDATE:

I went and bought a used Hard Drive as a replacement for my current main original Hard Drive. I was going to swap them out because of the ticking the main was making. During this i have discovered that by plugging the main hard drive into a different cable, spot 2 or 3 that i dont get stuck on windows startup screen, and the ticking has gone away. I plug any other Hard Drive into spot 1 and that hard drive is now ticking.

 

A monitor losing signal during launching of a game typically indicates that the video card or monitor cannot support the resolution range, or frequency that the game is demanding.

 

It turned out to actually be a bad hard drive causing the crash, i had 3 old hard drives one was in good shape the other 2 were about to fail as one was ticking. Replaced and now my machine is working great.
